Magpie Mapper is a citizen science app from the University of Exeter’s Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI).

We’re carrying out cutting-edge research into how wild birds use our urban and rural habitats and how people value having birds in their environment.

Please download this application if you would like to get involved and help us build up data for our research. All you need to do is load MagpieMapper and click a button to tell us when you spot a magpie. Your phone will automatically share with us your GPS location when you spot a magpie so we can build up a national map of where magpies have been seen across the UK. Within the application you can also view a list of all your sightings. Plus you can view statistics about how many magpies have been mapped by other people helping with the project.

As a Magpie Mapper you are playing a vital role in this research, we can’t do it without you!
